I should've waited for Halloween to read this, but I couldn't resist the temptation (much like the main character in this book).  It was so light and frothy and fun, which is exactly what I need right now.

The Ember saga is, overall, a smart, enticing, thrilling, kid-centric tale about a subject that's not necessarily kid-friendly.  How it deals with that duality is something special, something that made me pick this book up as soon as I knew what it was.

Ta-da!  I didn't want to jinx it by writing it down, but I found a very special book at my library and was determined to finish it before FINALLY going home tomorrow (or maybe I should say later today?).

I hesitate giving this book a review, mostly because it's been so well-reviewed for such obvious reasons, but I'd listed it on a reading list and I have to cross it off now.
